Ouachita Students Take Virtual Field Trips at Dawson Center for DL

Distance Learning Fieldtrips!

The students from Ouachita High School came for a fieldtrip to Dawson on February 29th.  The teachers prepared several activities for the day’s event.  The students began with a DCDL scavenger hunt with trivia facts about the Distance Learning Center and the distance learning teachers.

The Spanish instructors, Rebecca Harris and Sara McKinnon created an activity for students to create a virtual vacation to any Spanish speaking country.

Students gathered pictures of the places of interest and used Photoshop to place themselves in the image as if they were actually there!  The students loved the activity.

CTE teachers, Christie Lewis, Becky Kinard, and Dr. Mike Kelly, took photos of students and created magnetic frames.  The students edited their images using special filters to create funny images in Photoshop. “I had fun and it was nice meeting the teachers,” stated Emily Wallace.  Shawnalisa Reynolds and Justin Gray said, “We had lots of fun!”

“It is a good opportunity for the kids to meet their teachers and to see what it is like from their teachers end. Thank you, Dawson for having us.  It was a great visit. The kids had a wonderful time,” stated Mrs. Melissa Ramsey, facilitator for Ouachita.  Students from Ouachita are currently enrolled in Spanish I and II, Human Behavior and Disorders, Advertising, and Medical Procedures.
